Introduction to the Good Employment Charter Awards

The Good Employment Charter Awards are an annual ceremony celebrating the achievement of its Supporters and Members. At Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, we share and applaud their vision for good employment in the city-region, and are proud to have been selected as the inaugural charity partner for their awards dinner.

The Good Employment Charter Awards are dedicated to acknowledging organisations that are committed to good employment practices, with a focus on highlighting exemplary organisations providing secure and flexible work, fair pay, employee engagement, recruitment and health and wellbeing.

How Good Employment Supports Economic Stability and Social Impact

By promoting good practice, businesses can contribute to an employee’s economic and personal stability. Meanwhile, good employment can be a powerful tool in preventing and helping reduce homelessness, offering employees a stable income, support, and opportunities for personal growth.

Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity are committed to good employment as proud Supporters of the Charter and the impact it is having. As the awards’ inaugural charity partner, it is great to see the Charter champion not only good employment but also highlight the responsibility businesses have to support charities that help the community they exist in.

'We are delighted to have the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity as our Charity partner at this year’s Good Employment Charter awards. We are both initiatives born out of the Mayor’s first term in office and are natural partners. We know that good employers are socially responsible and want to contribute to making Greater Manchester a better place and know they will be keen to support the Charity’s fantastic work to reduce homelessness.'

 - Ian MacArthur, Director, Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter

‘We are pleased to have been selected as the first ever charity partner for the Good Employment Charter Awards. This partnership is not only a testament to our ongoing commitment to fostering good employment practices, but it is also a great way to spotlight how businesses and organisations – in all their forms – can support charities like ours.

With the number of families and children living in temporary accommodation at an all-time high in the UK, good employment can offer a route out. All businesses should look at their own practices and seek better for their employees.'
